Memorials: Donor's favorite Traditional jazz bassist Placide Adams dies The Associated Press NEW ORLEANS Placide Adams, a string bass player who was one of the stalwarts of traditional New Orleans jazz, died Saturday after a short illness.

He was 73. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Adams performed until recently, and his Onward Brass Band was booked to play the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival this spring. Adams is known mostly for traditional jazz, but in the 1950s he played rhythm and blues with such recording stars as Clyde McPhatter, Ruth Brown, Roy Brown, B.B. King, and Big Joe Turner. Adams was a member of a musical family.

SALINAS Jose 'Tite' Pimentel Jose "Tite" Pimentel, nas, died Monday, 2003, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 4, 1950, in Mexico, and lived in Salinas for 25 years. He was a field laborer with Dole Foods Co. He was preceded in death by his mother 52, of SaliMarch 31, Jose 'Tite' Pimentel and father, Anatolia Pimentel and Josefath Pimentel.

He loved music. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cherry Lee Terry, on Dec. 25, 2002. Survivors: Father, Solomon R. Terry Sr.
