"Some people who no longer qualify, or qualify with out-of-pocket payments, may choose to go to the emergency room," Majewski said. Limit MIA eligibility to lawful residents of Monterey County.

Now about 17 percent of patients in the MIA program are undocumented immigrants. They would still be eligible for limited Medi-Cal emergency services and some other services, the board report says. Lower the income eligibility standard for MIA patients from 130 percent of the federal poverty level to 100 percent of the poverty level, now $749 a month for a single person. This would save the county $200,000. Restrict MIA coverage to services not covered by other state and federal programs, such as pregnancy, organ transplants and breast, cervical and prostate cancer.

Increase patient co-payment and pharmacy fees, including raising the fee for emergency room visits from $5 to $25. This would save $57,000, the board report says. sight ol you leaving us to be in a better world. Our memories and pictures show the happiness we shared with you.
