Miss Sharp was born in San Rafael to Dr. and Mrs. William Fuller Sharp on Aug. 24, 1911, the youngest of four daughters. Evelyn attended Dominican College of San Rafael.

She was a graduate of Mills College and earned her master's degree at the University of California, Berkeley. Her teaching career spanned many decades. Students from Portola, San Rafael, Petaluma, Salinas and Carmel learned the science of biology, of life in the tide pools and nature around us. She was a charter member of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Her students loved her.

In 2003, the 1953 class of Salinas High School made her their "Honorary Class Mom" at their 50th reunion. All during the evening words of "You got me started in the right direction," "You believed in me," and "You made biology so much fun" were heard. Sharon could often be found early Sunday mornings at the Santa Cruz Flea Market where she could combine two of her favorite activities: bargain-hunting and talking with a family member or friend. Sharon will be remembered as a kindhearted person who was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. We will all miss her terribly, but will cherish our memories of Sharon's genuine and unconditional love, her never-ending kindness, her beautiful smile, sense of humor, her belief that everyone has good in them and her ability to always see the glass as "half-full." She was an incredibly strong person who fought bravely and in the end, even though she was not able to recover, she brought her friends and family closer together and proved to all of us that we are all much stronger than any of us ever imagined.

We take comfort in the knowledge that Sharon has gone to a better place, where she is strong and pain free. She is walking along a gorgeous beach, picking up seashells and smiling knowing that one day she will see us again.
