William Arthur 'Art' Carlton SALINAS William Arthur William Arthur 'Art' Carlton 'Art' William Arthur "Art" Carl- ton was welcomed into his heavenly home from Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital on Friday, July 22, 2005. Art was born in Abernathy, Texas, on Jan. 8, 1916, the 15th of 18 children. He farmed with his family in Lamesa, Texas.

In December 1938, he married his sweetheart, Lillie Ruth Carr, and they moved to Southern California where he started working in the cattle and dairying business, which took them to Fresno and to Merced County in 1950. He was well-known there for his work at the P.H. Ranch, Rancho Madera and the San Felipe Ranch, where he retired in 1996 at age 80. He was a working cowboy and his love for horses was constant in work and in pleasure. He enjoyed the California Rodeo Parade and won the award for oldest working cowboy several times.

In December 2001, the Carltons moved to Salinas and resided at Villa Serra. Art's family is grateful for excellent and loving care given by Dr. Jeanine Ellinwood, Dr. Anthony Sintetos, and Dr. William Parker and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

Memberships: 1951 Charter member of Atwater Baptist Church, where Art and Ruth served faithfully until they moved to Salinas and joined First Baptist Church. Mora, 90, of Soledad died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 21, 1915, in Patzcuaro, Mexico. She was a field laborer. Socorro liked working in her gar- Socorro M. Mora den, knitting blankets, watching her novelas and spending quality family time with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always enjoyed cooking for everyone.

She was the pillar of the Mora family. Socorro always had a smile, a positive attitude and was good listener. She had many friends and good children. She was loved by everyone and will be dearly missed. Survivors: daughters, Angie (Bernie Sr.) Vasquez of Soledad, Raquel (Jesus) Camacho of Soledad, Vicky (Manny) Escobar of Salinas; sons, Faustino (Beatriz) Mora of Soledad, Rudy (Linda) Mora of Rancho Cucamonga, Fernando (Gloria) Mora of Stockton, Bobby (Margaret) Mora of Fresno; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Welk accordionist Myron Floren dies The Associated Press Myron Floren, an accordion player who entertained generations of television viewers on "The Lawrence Welk Show," died Saturday. He was 85.

Floren died of cancer at his Rolling Hills Estates home in Los Angeles County, according to Margaret Heron, syndication manager for the show. ROLLING HILLS ESTATES TURLOCK Paul Skuban Paul Skuban, 97, of Turlock died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at his home. He was born in Yugoslavia on March 9, 1908. He was a retired grower with Yoder Brothers in Ohio and SaliPaul Skuban nas. He was employed for Skuban 33 years.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing cards. Memberships: Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors: daughters, Elaine (Herky) Sullivan of Turlock, Dorothy (Al) Becker of Salinas; sons, Paul (Carol) Skuban of Little Rock, Tom (Kathy) Skuban of Roseville, Bill Skuban of Fresno; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
