November 27,2001 Californian: OBITUARIES SALINAS Zo E. Zo E. Monday, Zo E. Lee Lee Lee, 81, of Salinas, died Nov. 26, 2001, at her home following an unexpected illness.

She was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Bakersfield and lived in Salinas for 44 years. She was an elementary school teacher with the Alisal School District and Fremont School before retiring. before retiring. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1942 with a degree teaching.

She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Salinas and Reading is Fundamental in Salinas. She was an 1 avid CAL sports supporter and loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and traveling. Memberships: First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, California Retired Teachers Association, University of California Alumni Association, California Mathematics Council and American Association of University Women. Survivors: Husband 55 years, Robert Stanley Lee of Salinas; sons, Dr. Barrett Alan (Carol) Lee of State College, and Clayton Thomas (Mary Ann) Lee of Hollister; brother, Buckley De Witt Bohna of Minneapolis; nieces, Cathy Yip and Nadine Bohna; and grandchildren, Christopher Lee, Derek Lee, Trisha Lee and Jordan Lee, all of Hollister, and Eric Lee and Devyn Lee of State College, Pa.

He was born June 7, 1929, in Honolulu, and lived in Salinas for 18 years. He was a processor for Trident Esteban M. Seafood. Lagudas Memberships: Fil Visayan Association in America and Segerian Association. Survivors: Wife, Pablita Lagudas of Salinas; daughters, Reeda Lagudas of Salinas and Agustina Lecciones and Gregoria Bomediano, both of the Philippines; sons, Ponciano Lagudas, Mario Lagudas, Juniper Lagudas and Esteban Lagudas all of Salinas, and Bernandino Lagudas of the Philippines; sister, Margarita Granada of the Philippines; brothers, Vicente Lagudas of Salinas and Leoncio Lagudas of the Philippines; and 22 grandchildren.

SALINAS Austin Austin Ted died of Austin Ted Hurley Ted Hurley Hurley, 88, of Salinatural causes Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Ave Maria Convalescent Hospital in Monterey. He was born May 23, 1913, in Santa Monica and lived in Salinas. He was a technical director with ABC Television and won an Emmy Award.

He was a newspaper photographer for the Pasadena Star News and the Los Angeles Times. He was an Eagle Scout and an avid golfer, hitting a hole in one. He was much loved and appreciated by his family. Military service: U.S. Navy World War II.

Survivors: Daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Kessler of Salinas; son, Paul Hurley of Long Beach; grandchildren, Tracy Goodman of Santa Rosa, Todd Kessler of Salinas and Nancy Lavender of Prunedale; and three greatgrandchildren. Merritt, 82, of Salinas, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Buffalo, S.C., and lived in Salinas for 38 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Her daughter, Elizabeth Ann, preceded her in death. Survivors: Husband 57 years, Graham C. Merritt of Salinas; son, Dan Merritt of Bakersfield; daughters, Betty Buche of Salinas and Norma Durham of South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was a homemaker. The body of Luci S. Houston, 43, was found in the back seat of her company car covered with a tarp near a cemetery, about a mile from her home. She died of multiple gunshot wounds, said police spokesman George Phillips, who would not say when Houston died. Police have not identified any: suspects, but they have tioned family members and neigh-: bors. Houston's estranged husband, Raymond Houston, showed up at the police station Sunday night with his lawyer, but refused to give a statement.
