6, 2009, in Salinas. He was born Feb. 8, 1983, in Sacramento. It is with a great faith in God that we celebrate the life of our son, Gabriel Vidal Amaro. Gabe was a wonderful blessing to our family.

He touched all of our lives with his unconditional love. He was a kind and gentle man; He never had a mean thought in his young life. Our Gabe was easy to please and enjoyed the simple things in life. We will always remember how he enjoyed going on outings with the Creative Pathways Program. He was an expert at video games.

His favorite were The Mummy, Titanic, and Child's Play. Gabe is also remembered by the music he liked such as house music, old school and freestyle. After minimal discussion, some board members and administrators backed away from the idea to lower the requirements. "It's been years since we looked at the requirements.

Some trustees, teachers and counselors said the district should lower them. "We have an abundance of students who are not going to graduate because of the requirements," said Trustee Phillip Tabera. Alisal High School counselor Marc Rosen told the board the district couldn't afford its own requirements. "We are paying overtime for teachers and staff The company has four employees. Background The historic business "Public high schools are supposed to serve every student. Only 20 percent of our students are going to a four-year university. Are we properly serving all of our students?" Marc Rosen, Alisal High School counselor because the district wants to have higher graduation requirements," Rosen said, pointing out that the district requires 240 credit hours while the state requires 220 credit hours. "Public high schools are supposed to serve every student. Only 20 percent of our students are going to a four-year opened in 1891 as Muller Mortuary in the 300 block of Main Street.

In John Steinbeck's novel "East of Eden," it's the site of funeral services for brothel owner Kate Ames, one of the author's less sympathetic characters. university. Are we properly serving all of our students?" The board raised the graduation issue at its last meeting. The discussion was triggered by a combination of severe budget cuts in state funding, which has forced the district to cut services aimed at helping students who are falling behind, and an exodus of students from district high schools. As a result, many students in alternative education programs have left the district for other schools with fewer graduation requirements, Vanoli said.

This year alone, the district lost 340 students to the Monterey County Office of Education's alternative high schools. That's about $6,000 per student per year, depending on attendance, he said. The closure of Whitehurst Muller leaves two funeral homes to service Salinas. They are Healey Mortuary and Crematory on North Sanborn Road and Struve and Laporte Funeral Home on West San Luis Street. Both are family-owned.
