Saturday, January 3, 2009 OBITUARIES Californian John Jack Lee Jr. SALINAS John Jack Lee Jr. John 'Jack' Lee Jr. John "Jack" Lee 96, of Salinas, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

Jack was born May 14, 1912, in Salinas. He was a retired mechanic for Spreckels Sugar working there for 35 years. Memberships: He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. Military service: He served in the U.S. Army during WW IL.

Survivors: Sister, Agnes (Leo) Cassina of Salinas; brother, Bill Lee of Salinas; nephew, Michael Lee of Salinas; nieces, Patty (Steve) Atwood of Hollister and Kathleen Lee of Palo Alto. Services: Private family graveside service and burial were held at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Salinas. Memorials: To favorite charity. Arrangements: Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Salinas.

Online condolences: www.struveandlaporte.com. MODESTO Janet Teresa Harvick Janet Teresa Harvick, 64, of Modesto, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008. Janet was born May 1, 1944, in Gonzales. Janet graduated from Gonzales Janet Teresa Harvick High School in 1962.

Janet later married her high school sweetheart, Jerry D. Harvick, Nov. 28, 1964. She resided in Modesto for 34 years, where she was corporate president of Choice Lighting Supply. Janet also found time to be Den Mother for her children's Scout troop 20 and 4-H leader for the Kiernan Clovers.

Janet was always involved in her children and grandchildren's activities. Janet's other activities included camping, fishing, bird watching, and wine tasting. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be truly missed by all who loved and knew her. Survivors: Loving husband, Jerry D. Harvick; sons, Christopher (Teresa) Harvick, Aaron (Jessica) Harvick; sisters, Magdalene (Frank) Vogel and Elena (Chet) Oldakowski; and sister-in-law, Heide Bergeron; and her best baby boys, Skye, Eli and Keegan; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse Bergeron and Veronica Bergeron; sisters, Vivian Bonincontri, Florence Bergeron, Yvonne Tavernetti; and brother, Herve Bergeron. 19, 1940, in Durham, N.C. Larry went to Eureka High School and was of the class of 1959. Every five years there was a class reunion and Larry didn't miss one. The Heaps car club was one of his passions. Then came dirt bike racing and the thrill of winning, competition, and meeting great guys.

On Dec. 13, 1965, Larry joined the Eureka Mission Linen family and in a short time he was hooked on everything the company stood for. At this time Larry was asked to make a choice between dirt bike racing and Mission Linen. He had SALINAS Ivan R. Daggett Ivan R.

There was only one choice, as he had a little girl to support, so he sold his bike and hung up his leathers. After a few years he was transferred to the Santa Cruz plant and then on to the Salinas Plant as General Manager.

He retired after 35 years of service. Larry and Jeri made trips back to Salinas to see friends and to stop by Mission Linen to say hello to all the employees. The employees would give him a hug and tell him, "We sure miss your walk through the plant each morning, saying hello to each of us." He knew them all on a firstname basis. When new employees were hired they were told he wasn't Mr. Miller, Sir, or Boss; he was Larry! He gave his employees the credit for the recognition and awards received over the years.

One can't forget his interest in old cars. While in Salinas, he was on the Cherry's Jubilee committee for 10 years, as well as belonging of Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, one day after his 82nd birthday. Ivan was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Humboldt, to Lucy Daggett, along with his twin sister, Eva, who preceded him in death.

The family moved to Castroville in 1937 and Ivan graduated from Salinas High School in 1946. Ivan worked for many years as a facilities maintenance supervisor for the Salinas Union High School District. He was significantly involved in the construction of the Salinas High football stadium as well as North Salinas and Alisal High Schools. He also served 28 years in the California National Guard. to the Road Angels Car Club.

After moving to Fortuna, Larry and Jeri joined the Redwood Vintage Rods and another family of friends was made. They traveled to car shows with friends, Gene and Joyce Davenport and George and Marla Smoker. Larry had a great smile and sense of humor. His quick wit resulted in his aliases, "Stickman," "Noodle Legs" and "Scary Larry." He loved his family and church family very much. The family would like to thank Dr.

Olkin, the Redwood Memorial Hospital staff and the ICU staff for the loving care they gave Larry. Thanks to Patti at Pierce Mortuary and friends and neighbors for their support. Survivors: Wife of 27 years, Jeri Miller of Fortuna; sister, Ivey (Rich) Bryant Bettis of Fortuna; daughters, Tohnia Miller of San Diego and Nina (Peter) Neill of Boulder, step-daughters, Chrissy (John) Strong, Jackie (John) Mansfield, and Kathy Napolitano, all of Idaho; grandchildren, Following his retirement in the mid-'80s, Ivan was able to spend more of his time at his beloved ranch on Old Stage Road, where over the years he had grown hay, raised various animals and collected old cars, trucks and tractors. Although Ivan never had children of his own, his nephews, Ron and Robert Hedberg, served in that capacity growing up and spending countless hours with their uncle at the ranch. Ivan was also a member of the Monterey County Sheriff's Posse for nearly 40 years and served several stints as president.

He was involved in many posse functions, including the Junior Rodeo, Big Hat Barbecue and numerous trail rides. He was a member of the Salinas Elks Lodge for Nicole (Scott) Taylor (nicknamed Little Grasshopper by her grandpa), Deanne (Chris) Bailey (known as Casper), Brad and Ryker Mansfield of Idaho, Jordan, Philip and Ben Neill of five great-granddaughters; niece, Karen (Nolan) Hawkins of Redding, nephews, Larry and Todd (Shawna) Bryant of Fortuna; many great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dennis and Mary Pieper of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Terry and Bronda Sims of Ariz. Celebration of Life service: From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Ingomar Club, 143 Eureka. Arrangements: Pierce Mortuary, Eureka, (707) 442-3751. Ivan R. Daggett more than 40 years. Ivan was well known throughout the Salinas Valley and will be greatly missed by many. He earned the nickname "Drivin' Ivan" and was regarded as quite a character by those who knew him well.

Survivors: Wife of 44 years, Barbara; sisters, Mary Hedberg and Beulah Adams of Salinas; nephews, Ron Hedberg of Campbell and Robert Hedberg of Salinas; along with numerous other nieces and nephews. Memorial gathering: 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Sheriff's Posse Grounds, 395 Old Natividad Road, Salinas. Arrangements: Cremation by Neptune Society of Central California.
