The rural crime station is the latest step the county has taken to combat theft and other crime in the county's $400 million agricultural industry. Earlier this year, Santa Cruz joined forces with 10 other counties in the Tulare County-based Agricultural Crime Technology Information and operations Network. The federally funded partnership brings together expertise and technology to prevent, solve and track crimes against California farmers. The new substation will occupy a former Pajaro Valley Fire Protection District station.
