Scott was born September 21, 1954 in Pasadena. Raised and educated in Southern California, he moved to Santa Cruz where he spent most of his adult life before making Salinas his home.

Although he valued his privacy, he cherished his friendships, so we know he will be sorely missed by many. His intellect, wit, and boyish charm endeared him to all he met. Scott's many accomplishments covered a wide array of interests and disciplines of study. Rather than a competition with others, his natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge inspired him to challenge himself and master whatever he chose to investigate. It was that variety of knowledge and understanding of the efforts and desires of others which enabled him to communicate and find common ground with people from all walks of life.

He is survived by his mother, Diane; his brother, Chris; his sisters, Kerry and Tracy; and his niece, Emily. A private family service will be held. We mourn his loss, but his spirit will continue to live in all of us. SALINAS Barbara A. McWilliams took Isabel's drawing to an architect who laid out measurements to create the float. Between 36 to 64 seniors volunteered to build the float at 57 feet long and 14 feet high. The materials used: wood, cardboard, tissue paper and chicken wire. It sits on a flatbed truck. "School floats don't usually exceed 27 feet long but this year we wanted to go all-out in the win," said McWilliams.
