James Burke James Hugo Burke of Salinas died Thursday at Natividad Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 60. Mr. Burke was born in Oneida, and had been a resident of Salinas for 41 years. He was a retired truck driver and had been awarded the Purple Heart for U.S.

Army service in the South Pacific during World War II. He is survived by his ex-wife, Dana Tibbs of Red Bluff; a daughter, Tamie Lyne Burke of Red Bluff; two sons, James Allen Burke and Richard Cecil Burke, both of Red Bluff; five grandchildren, two nieces and four nephews. Friends may call until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Healey Mortuary. Graveside services will begin at 3 p.m.

Tuesday in the Garden of Memories. Heart recipient dies after 18 Vi years The Associated Pies-, MARSEILLE, France Emmanuel Vitria, who set a world record by living 181 2 years with a transplanted heart, died early today of heart and respiratory problems, doctors said. He was (7. Vitria died at 5 a.m. at Salvator Hospital surrounded by his family, said his doctor, Jean-Raoul Monties.

We have lost a friend and triends are rare, Monties. Monties was part of the team that performed the heart transplant on Nov. 27. 1968. giving Vitria the heart ot Pierre P011-son, a 2(i-year-old sailor killed in an accident.

Dr. Edmond Henry, who headed the transplant team, since has died ot a heart attack. Santos Martinez Santos Martinez of Salinas died Friday at the Natividad Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was 72. Mr.

Martinez was born in Los Aldamas, Mexico. He had been a Salinas Valley resident for 21 years and was a retired farm laborer. He was a member of the First Spanish Southern Baptist Church of Salinas. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Josefa Martinez of Salinas; three sons, Jose Santos Martinez of Watsonville, Koque and Raul Martinez of Salinas; six daughters, Guadalupe, Rebecca, and Juana Martinez, Alicia Guerra, Maria Aleman, and Blanca Dominguez, all of Salinas; three brothers, Dometilo, Jose, and Benito Martinez, all of Mexico; two sisters, Maria and Refugia Martinez, both of Mexico; and 18 grandchildren.

Prayer services were held Sunday. Funeral services were held today at the Struve La-porte Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Garden of Memories. Margaret Westphal Margaret Edna Westphal of Bradley died Sunday at the Driftwood Convalescent Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 85.

Mrs. Westphal was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. She moved to the King City area in 1920 and to Bradley in 1951. She was a homemaker and a past member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Jolon, a member of the Hesperia Grange, the King City Farm Bureau, and the Senior Group of Greenfield.

She is survived by five daughters, Rose Prewet of Paicines, Betty Heilman of Manton, Ruth Pressey of Napa. Peggy Weaner of Prairie. and Marilyn Rankin of Mount Pleasant. six sons. Robert Westphal of Sonora, Harold Westphal of Carmichael, Edward Westphal of Bradley, Rudolph Westphal of Roseville, John Westphal of Salinas, and James Westphal of Castroville; two sisters.
